Criminal Justice
This course is a study of the history and philosophy of the Criminal Justice field and its ethical considerations. Covering the Theories of Criminology and Victimology, we will start with the Criminal Justice systems roots and expand towards the Correction System. The nature and impact of crime is explored, and instruction includes an overview and study of the Criminal Justice system, Law Enforcement, the court systems, prosecution and defense, trial processes, and corrections and penal systems.
Class objectives are as follows:
Understand the history and philosophy of the criminal justice system
Learn about crime and victim theory
Recognize the definition of crime and different types of crimes
Understand the nature of crime and its impact on society
Examine the three major components of the American criminal justice system
(Law Enforcement, Courts & Corrections)
Utilizing available resources, garner an understanding of punishments
